Blackbird, Fly weaves a tapestry of movement, narrative, music, Haitian folklore, and hip hop into an intimate duet between two preeminent sons of Haitian immigrants: composer/violinist Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR)–described by The New York Times as “about as omnivorous as a contemporary artist gets”–and venerable arts activist/spoken word artist Marc Bamuthi Joseph.
Through stories of their lives and personal experiences, Blackbird, Fly is introspective yet uplifting, heightening our collective consciousness and shedding new light on the arts as a powerful tool for social engagement.
