Chan Centre for the Performing Arts

Nunavut: Kronos Quartet featuring Tanya Tagaq

Sat Jan 28 2006 8pm
Chan Shun Concert Hall

Co-presented by the Chan Centre and the PuSh International Performing Arts Festival

For more than 30 years, the Kronos Quartet, the Kronos Quartet – David Harrington and John Sherba (violins), Hank Dutt (viola) and Jeffrey Ziegler (cello) – has pursued a singular artistic vision: combining a spirit of fearless exploration with a commitment to expanding the range and context of the string quartet.

Part of their program will include the world premiere of a new piece co-commissioned by the PuSh Festival, Chan Centre, CBC, and the Canada Council. This new work will feature the imcomparable Inuit throat singer Tanya Tagaq performing with Kronos, in works arranged by Argentinian composer Osvaldo Golijov and Canada’s own Derek Charke.
