Christmas at the Chan
Presented by Trinity Western University Choirs
Christmas season highlight event “Christmas at the Chan” is a showcase of four Trinity Western University choirs accompanied by a professional orchestra for a musical celebration of the season. The program includes the dramatic Christmas cantata, Hodie by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and it will feature special guests, the Pacific Mennonite Children’s Choir under the direction of Betty-Ann Braun. Award-winning conductor Dr. Joel Tranquilla, Director of Choral Activities at TWU’s School of the Arts, Media + Culture, brings the audience an enchanting afternoon of musical performances to usher in the spirit and meaning of Christmas.
The annual Christmas at the Chan Centre concert is a collaborative gift to the wider community from the Chan family, the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, and Trinity Western University, and is made possible through the generous assistance of the Chan Endowment Fund of the University of British Columbia.
Trinity Western University’s choral program has been recognized internationally, collaborating with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Vancouver Chamber Choir, performing on CBC Radio and at Carnegie Hall, and touring to China, Korea, Eastern Europe and the Ukraine. For young musicians interested in studying at TWU, there is a series of Preview Weekends on campus throughout the year. Find more information at twu.ca/visit.
