Phil Nimmons is a composer, born in Kamloops, BC, and has been residing and working in Toronto since the 1950s. His Atlantic Suite was released in 1975, and won a JUNO award for best jazz album of the year. The four movements (I. Harbours, II: Islands, III: Tides, IV: Horizons) depict scenes from the Canadian Maritime coast.

Jaelem Bhate is a composer, conductor, and percussionist from Vancouver, BC. He is a graduate student at the University of British Columbia studying with Jonathan Girard and Fred Stride. His Pacific Suite, inspired by Nimmons’ 40 year old Atlantic Suite, revolves around themes native to his hometown and coast. Four movements (I. Straits and Narrows, II: Weeping Skies, III: Uninhabitation, IV: Sea of Glass) depict both the natural surroundings and the city that he grew up in.
