Flamenco Rosario artistic and executive director Rosario Ancer and music director Victor Kolstee discuss the history of flamenco, the life and musical career of Paco de Lucía, and the musicians and origin of The Paco de Lucía Project.

Rosario Ancer is an award-winning artistic director, choreographer, and dancer who has affectionately been referred to as “the mother of flamenco in Vancouver.” After a successful career in Spain, she moved to Vancouver in 1989 with husband Victor Kolstee. The two have co-founded the Centro Flamenco school, the Vancouver International Flamenco Festival, and The Flamenco Rosario Arts Society (Flamenco Rosario), as well as an associated professional training program. Victor Kolstee is an acclaimed guitarist, composer, and musical director who performs extensively around the city, and is also a teacher who has mentored many young guitarists.
