An Update for our Community
For the time being, our stage lights have dimmed and our concert hall has quieted. Here at the Chan Centre, throughout Vancouver, and all around the world, there have been important social distancing measures enacted in an effort to protect our vibrant and beloved communities from the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The arts have always worked to illuminate the many ways in which we are all interconnected across cultures and distance, and never before has this truth been so clear.
For those of you who purchased a ticket to one of the events that have been cancelled in the wake of this pandemic (click here for a current list), we ask you to consider helping to support the arts if you have the means.
- DONATE YOUR TICKETS BACK: Show your solidarity in this difficult time. In lieu of a refund, we are happy to offer a tax receipt for the value of your tickets, issued by the presenting non-profit organization of the event you purchased tickets to.
- EXCHANGE FOR A FUTURE PERFORMANCE: Let arts organizations and artists know that you’ll be back. Many events are in the midst of being rescheduled. If they are, your tickets will be honoured for the new date. There are also new seasons of exciting performances on the horizon—if you would like put your current ticket investment towards a future performance, our ticket office staff would be happy to help and can let you know what your options are based on the performance you were originally set to attend.
- REFUND: We know that arts organizations aren’t the only ones who suffer financially in uncertain times like these. If you purchased online or by phone using your credit card and you would like a refund for a cancelled event, you do not need to take any action. Your ticket purchase will be refunded back to your credit card as soon as possible following the date of your cancelled event. If your event has been rescheduled and you can’t make the new date, OR if you purchased your ticket in person with debit or cash, please email the ticket office at email@example.com to arrange your refund.
As we all take a conscious step back from one another, we hope you will embrace and find hope in the many ways that the arts can still touch and enrich your lives. Sing from your balcony, dance in your living room, look for beauty wherever you can. New opportunities are emerging to engage with your favourite artists and musicians online, many of whom are utilizing technology to share their work with the world.
The Chan Centre deeply appreciates the support of our audiences and community during this unsettling time. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.
