Musical Encounters and Human Creativity

Every act of music-making draws on ideas inherited from the past to create in the present. Every musical heritage reflects a history of human contact and creative responses to these encounters. In anticipation of “The Journeyed Compass,” this pre-show talk explores some of the ways in which our musical predecessors have engaged with and found meaning in transcultural musical creativity.
