Presented by the UBC Department of Theatre and Film

Part rock opera, part mystery cycle, the tree. the tower. the flood. is a startling new take on three myths common to Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Vedic cultures: three Bible stories for the age of information.

UBC alumnus John MacLachlan Gray takes the Garden of Eden, the Tower of Babel, and the Great Flood and places them in a contemporary context. The questions are no longer about good and evil, but rather about knowledge and its consequences.

Based on Hebrew sources such as Zohar as well as Gray’s own experiences on the Information Highway Advisory Council, the show uses contemporary gospel and R&B music, innovative staging and close-circuit video to give a provocative new spin to an ancient story.

Previews May 12 – 14.
