Initializing… Loading… Ready player one! Dive into the wonderful world of video games with Press Start: Video Game Music & Game Development! In this camp, campers will learn the fundamentals of music, craft their own musical instruments, and work in teams to explore digital video game music composition using Garageband. In the afternoon, our music studio will become a game studio as campers explore the ins and outs of video game design, learn coding, and create awesome programs using Scratch. At the end of the week, campers will showcase a playable video game featuring their own music to their friends and family! Are you ready to press start?

Note to parents/guardians: No prior experience in music, Garageband, or coding is required.

What can you expect from this camp?

A typical camp week will introduce campers to new concepts in music and coding through fun games and mini-projects from Monday – Wednesday. Each morning will be spent focusing on music, while each afternoon will focus on videogame design and coding in Scratch. Campers will spend Thursday – Friday working on their final projects to present in the Friday Showcase.

Parents/guardians, siblings, and friends are invited to the Friday Showcase, taking place on the Friday afternoon of each week. This is an opportunity for campers to show off their camp projects and have fun demonstrating what they learned! Information about the Friday Showcase will be provided to parents/guardians in an email 1 week prior to the start of camp.

Parents/guardians can expect campers to come home with a cool music-themed project on Monday – Wednesday. Technology projects such as digital music compositions and Scratch games will be emailed to parents/guardians within 3 days after the last day of camp.

Registration opens on February 25, 2025 at 12PM
