Elvis Costello in Conversation with Stephen Quinn
Presented by the Vancouver Writers Fest in partnership with the Chan Centre
Uncover the story behind the music with Elvis Costello, Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and, now, memoirist. In Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink, Costello offers his view of his unlikely and sometimes comical rise to international success, with stories about the origins of some of his best-known songs and encounters with the likes of Paul McCartney, Aretha Franklin, Bob Dylan (among many others). Along the way Costello also pauses to consider the downsides of fame, and recounts the personal crises and moments of sorrow never witnessed by fans. Called “some of the best writing – funny, strange, spiteful, anguished – we’ve ever had from an important musician” by the New York Times, Unfaithful Music & Disappearing Ink provides readers with a master catalogue of a lifetime of great music. Join Costello and CBC’s Stephen Quinn as they discuss this riveting memoir and give us a look ‘backstage’.
