Presented by the Chan Centre in partnership with the UBC School of Music Department of Ethnomusicology and the Centre for Korean Research at UBC 

Dr. Hee-sun Kim is a professor of the Graduate School of Education at Kookmin University and a Research Fellow of the Asian Music Institute, Seoul National University. Dr. Kim will speak on traditional Korean music represented in commercial films, touching on the 2008 documentary Intangible Asset No. 82 and the 2005 historical drama The King and the Clown.

This event is also a colloquium talk of the UBC School of Music Department of Ethnomusicology and the Centre for Korean Research at UBC.

Dr. Kim’s talk will be followed by a screening of The King and the Clown at 5:00pm.

Free pizza will be served between the talk and the film screening.
