Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra Season Finale
The Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra concludes its 2025-2026 season with a vibrant double concert day on Sunday May 17th, 2026! Join us in celebrating a year of dedication, artistic growth, and musical excellence by our talented young musicians.
Whether you are a longtime supporter or experiencing VYSO for the first time, the Season Finale offers a vibrant and compelling celebration of the next generation of musicians.
The 2:00pm performance features the Debut, Junior, and Intermediate Orchestras. The Debut Orchestra, conducted by Nadia Petriw, and the Junior Orchestra, conducted by Rick Dorfer, will come together for a series of combined performances, offering a dynamic and engaging collaborative experience. The Intermediate Orchestra, conducted by Samuel Ivory, will also present its own repertoire, reflecting the growth and accomplishments of the season.
The 7:00pm performance showcases the Senior Orchestra led by Artistic Director and conductor Jonathan Girard, featuring a special appearance by acclaimed cellist Henry Shapard as soloist in Dvorak’s Cello Concerto in B minor. This powerful and beloved concerto serves as a fitting centerpiece for an evening that celebrates the highest level of artistry within the program.
