The concert “From Shadow to Light II” is the second Fundraiser concert in support of Cottage Farm.
Cottage Farm will be a caring residential therapeutic community where people with mental disorders can find healing, purpose and wholeness as they journey towards wellness. By offering a place of belonging and support, this community means to help break the cycle of isolation, homelessness and addiction that all too often surrounds mental illness.
The Event “From Shadow to Light II”, will feature Ric Mathews, the minister of 1st United Church, who will speak about his work in the downtown core of Vancouver, uplifting song, Irish Dance and a spectacular newly commisioned dance choreographed by Astrid Sherman as performed by the students of the Pro Arte Dance School. The opening and closing movements of this work will be performed by the students of the Penk O’ Donnell School of Irish Dancing.
This ground – breaking work is accompanied by the vibrant and passionate music of Karl jenkins’ popular “Adiemus” sung by a choir of over 100 voices.
The music invokes the driving rhythms of Celtic music, and the power of African music, drawing together many cultures into one experience.
