A Chinese National Music Band with title “Zhiduoshao Chinese National Music” has been invited by the UBC School of Music to hold two concerts that explore Chinese national music and Chinese folk songs.
This performance group is jointly established by the Creation Centre of Chinese National Arts Inheritance & Promotion and the China Conservatory of Music.
The event is sponsored by the Creation Center of Chinese National Arts Inheritance & Promotion and supported by the UBC School of Music.
The head of the team is Song Fei, expert player of erhu, educator, vice president of China Conservatory of Music. Performers are most famous players in recent Chinese stages or leaders of Chinese music research sector, including Cao Wengong, player of dizi, educator and conductor; Yao Yijun, musicologist, musical educator and member of Chinese Musicians Association; Hou Yanqiu, Player of suona, member of Chinese National Orchestra Society and secretary general of National Wind Seminar of China Music Association; Han Yanwen, singer of soprano and state first-class performer; Qu Xuexuan, singer of tenor and member of Chinese Musicians Association and Zhou Qiang, singer of tenor, etc.
Other performers are all winners of the “Golden Clock Award” and other high-level competitions.
Moreover, Liu Ruoxi, student of China Conservatory of Music, vice president of Vancouver Alumni Association of China Conservatory of Music and young soprano and Rong Jun, teacher of erhu will perform with Alma Mater’s teachers and students.
Main performers on June 19: Song Fei, erhu player; Hou Yanqiu, suona player; Cao Wengong, conductor and Rong Jun, erhu player.
