Presented by Turning Point Ensemble and The Nu:BC Collective in partnership with the Chan Centre

The Nu:BC Collective and Turning Point Ensemble share the stage for “Superimposition,” an inventive evening of instrumental music featuring a new concerto for flute, cello, and piano by acclaimed composer Aaron Gervais, commissioned by the Chan Centre.

This sonically diverse and layered program also includes the premiere of a striking concerto by John Oliver for saxophone virtuoso Julia Nolan. TPE adds the jazzy and spirited Choros No. 7 by Heitor Villa-Lobos and Nu:BC presents a new arrangement of Ana Sokolovic’s “Portrait parle” and a premiere by UBC’s Dorothy Chang.

Described as “a dream gift” (The Vancouver Sun), The Nu:BC Collective brings together flutist Paolo Bortolussi, cellist Eric Wilson and pianist Corey Hamm. The award winning Turning Point Ensemble, led by conductor an Artistic Director Owen Underhill, is known for its outstanding musicianship, innovative programming and bold multidisciplinary collaborations.
