Donna Fishwick Piano Ensemble: 20th Anniversary Gala Concert

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Donna Fishwick Piano Ensemble, an award-winning group of talented performers from Vancouver. Since 1994, these young artists have enjoyed international acclaim and have graced such stages as the Cairo Opera House in Egypt, Liechtenstein Palace in Prague, Steinway Hall in New York and Bosendorfer Recital Hall in Vienna among others. Their wealth of repertoire includes transcriptions and original compositions for 2, 4, 6 and 8 hands, and for one or two pianos.

Performers include winners of the 2013 Crescendo International Music Competition Angela Hu, Brandon Jong, Ryan Zhu, Michelle Xu, Jasper Liang, Jasper Yoo and winners of the 2014 Little Mozarts Competition Paul Wong and Oscar Shi. All of these young pianists performed on the honour recital at the Carnegie Hall in New York City in 2014.

In March 2014, seven Ensemble members were awarded Gold Medals for achieving the highest marks in 2013 Practical Piano Examinations in British Columbia and Canada. They are: Angela Hu (Grade 4), Brandon Jong (Grade 5), Ryan Zhu (Grade 7), Laura Wang (Grade 7), Olivia Hu (Grade 8), Edward Su (Grade 9) and Mariya Orlenko (Grade 10). Bonnie Lee achieved the Highest Mark in Canada for Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance.

This will be an exciting afternoon of ensemble arrangements on two pianos featuring some of Canada’s youngest talent.
