UBC Bands – Come Sunday
In the hope of taking Black History Month beyond February, UBC Bands is celebrating classic and contemporary Black composers in their last concert of the season with Come Sunday.
Come Sunday is a joyous and virtuosic two-movement tribute to the Hammond organ’s central role in Black worship services composed by Omar Thomas. Other music performed include works by the first African-American conductor of a major orchestra, William Grant Still; and composers Adolphus Hailstork and Kevin Day.
