Presented by the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra

The Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra presents Voices from Gold Mountain – an orchestral commission and premiere composed by award-winning conductor, Jin Zhang.

This exciting new work, performed by the senior orchestra and made possible by the Government of Canada Citizenship and Immigration, is a symphonic tribute to the early Chinese Canadian immigrants who struggled to build new lives in Canada despite great adversity.

This season-closing concert also features Dvorak’s New World Symphony and the VYSO’s Debut Orchestra in a narrative performance with “Bard on the Beach” artistic director Christopher Gaze.

The VYSO is British Columbia’s premier orchestral training programme now in its 81st season. Conductors are Roger Cole, Jin Zhang and Margitta Krebs.

Original photographic imagery is created by photographer Vincent Wong.
