Dusty Foot Philosophies with K’NAAN

Fri September 24 2010 12pm
Chan Shun Concert Hall

Since immigrating to Ontario, Canada from Mogadishu at the age of 13, K’NAAN had witnessed his once peaceful neighborhood infiltrated by the Somali civil war and destroyed by violence. He has since found his voice in poetry and rhyming and began to use music at a young age to tell his story. Since his notable freestyle rhyme at the United Nations 50th Anniversary Concert in Geneva, K’NAAN has continued to demonstrate the power of music in educating others on the most critical situations in our world.

Come and witness K’NAAN share his experiences in Somalia and his reflections on peace, conflict, and the power of music. His talk will be followed by a question and answer period.
